David Chao is Invesco’s Global Market Strategist for Asia Pacific. Located in Hong Kong, Mr. Chao provides specialized coverage of market and economic issues across the Asia Pacific region, complementing the work of the firm’s strategists in North America, EMEA and Japan.
Mr. Chao joined Invesco in 2019 and entered the asset management industry in 2003. Most recently, he was first vice president for a large global bank based in Asia and led the bank’s newly created Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Advisory unit. This unit counseled bank clients on their investments in Greater China and Southeast Asia. The Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Belt and Road Summit, and government bodies such as the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong have requested Mr. Chao to speak and moderate public forums on FDI flows and trends.
Mr. Chao earned a BA degree in economics from Cornell University and completed coursework in economics with the London School of Economics and Political Science.
